Happy Birthday to Lovecraft.
To celebrate, have a rather fine short film that echoes “From Beyond” without pastiching it.
I feel Lovecraft would approve. The steady build of nothing being inexplicable followed by a sharp rise to a reveal fits his common story shape. Found footage is the 21st Century’s version of a box of papers discovered after a funeral. And an experience humans consider religion being an application of unknown (to humans) science is one of his core ideas.
Although, the racing around and the jump cuts are a far cry from the sedateness and politeness of the imagined England Lovecraft craved.
As for whether the Brain Hack works? I had been accused of having an oblique view of the world many years before I first saw the patterns, so am not a good witness.
