I definitely agree that money is a convenient fiction, and can see plenty of fun ideas for science-fiction futures in this – from the utopian to the dystopian.
However, I see the real issue not as obstacles to use of money but in the money itself. Even the most efficient barter-token system carries the implication that something can have an external values attached to it, so I’d prefer a post-scarcity economy where we just give what we have but don’t need and get what we want but don’t have.
